"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night."
Dear Family,
This morning I read, wrote down, and re-read Psalm 1 in the quiet privacy of the study room. For the first time since I can honestly remember, I humbly saw myself in the Scriptures. I've gone through my entire life (for the most part) reading the Bible and then flagalating myself for falling short. But when I ruminated on this passage this morning, the Spirit within me sort of touched my heart and said to me, "Tom, you're this man! Can you see it?" My greatest delight in life has always been when I'm saturated in the Word of Life and thinking on Him throughout the day and night. There's no other more desirable place I've ever wanted to be. I've always felt this way, ever since I became a Christian. And I know you feel it too. And you know what? God has blessed me; He's blessed me. He's given me more than I ever needed, and He's buried me in His love through Jesus and my family, each of you. And you know what else? He's blessed you too in the same way!
I hope you can understand the spirit in which I share this with you; it comes from a broken and contrite heart, not a haughty one. And I hope and pray (as I did this morning) that I, that we, would spend more time listening to the Spirit as we read the Word of Life and then see His presence in our own lives.
I love you, and was so excited about what God taught me this morning that I just had to pass it along to you. I'm a Christian, by golly, I'm a Christian! That's not only remarkable, that's a miracle, and that's a beautiful thing.
Tom/Dad
